Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection licensing observed the planter which was placed at the access point to prevent access to children was moved, making the deck where the hot tub was stored was made accessible. Upon further inspection, the hot tub locks were not engaged providing access to the hot tub. Children had not yet been playing in the yard on the day of the inspection. The licensee corrected this at the time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Criminal Record Check is not current (expired) for one or more employees.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, 6 children, and the facility licensee, and a support staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Discussion of storing of emergency supplies. Some were stored outside and some inside due to access to animals.
Reviewed and discussed care plans.
