Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: The name of the manager was not posted onsite.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the manager's name is posted in a prominent place within the facility.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: Children are not using single use towels to dry their hands after hand hygiene.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that children use single use towels after each hand washing.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 2 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring the facility into compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This report was reviewed with the Manager via phone and a copy of the report was provided via email; therefore, no signature attached.
The following recommentation & resources provided today:
-Updated information, re: Public Health Guidance for Child Care ( email attachment)
-To regularly monitor facility furniture and equipment for tear and wear, i.e. diaper changing mat, backyard door latch
-To update children's picture as needed; to keep children's current photos or digital images
-Discussed with the manager, re: Schedule E- staff to child ratio
-To clearly reflect children's attendance on the sign-in sheet, including their absences
