Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed a drawer in the kitchen area which contained knives. The entire kitchen is accessible to the children.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

STAFFING: 12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation: A criminal record check for 3 persons over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present has expired.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure person's over the age of 12 who are ordinarily present have a valid criminal record check.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated February 3, 2022 there were 6 children and the Licensee present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the licensee includes providing a written response by February 11, 2022 .
Actions required by Licensing include reviewing the written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following education /discussions were reviewed;

An update to the Covid-19 policy to streamline the Child Care guidelines released on January 19, 2022.

This report was written off site and a copy of both the report and Risk Assessment was emailed to the facility.
