Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Observed a razor located on a shelf within the shower and darts stored in a lower level cabinet which was not secured. It is noted that the children were supervised at all times during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children do not have access to any objects which may be hazardous to their health and or safety.

Comments

At the inspection dated Feb 16, 2021 there were 5 children in the care of the licensee. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee to provide a written response by the assigned time frame , Licensing to confirm receipt.
Licensee to provide an updated floor plan due to changes to the original stamped plans. Space used by children continues to meet for the capacity of 7 children.Children have access to a home like environment as per the Director of Licensing Standard of Practice(DLSOP)for Family Child Care. Kitchen, main play area, nap room , washroom and a large room used for gross motor.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. During the inspection the Licensee provided details on the steps taken to increase added health and hygiene measures.
In practicing Covid-19 precautions the inspection report was completed off site with arrangements made for delivery, therefore unsigned.
