Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Parts of the toilet seat is chipping in some areas and becoming porrous. The seat cannot be sanitized properly.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the equipment, furniture and fixtures are clean and in good repair.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: A random selection of children's files were reviewed. Out of the 4 reviewed, 2 did not contain the enrolment date.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a record showing the date of enrolment is on file.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: A random selection of children's files were reviewed, Out of the 4 reviewed, 1 did not contain information for a medical practioner.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a record showing the name and phone number of a medical practioner is on file.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated June 29, 2022, there were 8 children in care with the Licensee..
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the licensee includes providing a written response by July 6, 2022 .
Actions required by Licensing include reviewing the written response.

The following education was provided:
Covid-19 vaccine status for staff
Transportation of school age children and the records required
Reportable Incidents- Service delivery problem

This report was written off site and a copy of both the report and Risk Assessment was emailed to the facility. This report is unsigned due to health and safety practices during COVID-19.
