Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: It was observed the Licensee has enough water to respond to an emergency but no food present in the event of an emergency.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that you have enough food for the suggested 72 hours in order to respond to and recover from any emergency.
Date to be Corrected: April 15, 2019.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: It was observed that no record for monthly fire drills or yearly earthquake drills were present. Licensee states she does practice just has not recorded these.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all emergency drills are recorded.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: It was observed that one child is missing an MSP (care card) number. This is a repeat contravention. It was observed that two children were missing immunization status. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files have MSP numbers and immunization status.
Date to be Corrected: April 8, 2019.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: It was observed that over the last month of attendance records, 6 departure times were missing. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that time out is recorded daily for each child.
Date to be Corrected: Today

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: It was observed that one child's file was missing a doctor's phone number.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children have the number of a medical practitioner.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated April 1, 2019 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
