Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: One staff who travels between the facilities did not have her file with documents on her or at the facility.Staff was able to print all the required documents and create the file.
Corrective Action(s): (Corrected During Inspection) All the staff files should be kept in the single place or available for licensing.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated March 1, 2023 there were 15 children in Preschool with 2 staff present. At this inspection above noted contraventions were identified.

The following was discussed or resources provided:
Finding a separate space away from play area to store brooms, vacuum and other miscellaneous items on the side of the fridge.
Care Plans
Repayment Agreements in child care facilities.
Using the bathroom sink to wash hands instead of bringing the children back to the classroom and washing hands in the classroom sink.

The contents of this inspection report was reviewed with the manager prior to the inspection report being written off-site, therefore no signature attached. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. During the inspection the Licensee provided details on the steps taken to increase added health and hygiene measures.
