Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 10 children's files were reviewed. The contact number for a doctor was missing in 1 file.
Corrective Action(s): Please make sure all files have the contact number for a doctor.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: One care plan has not been reviewed in the past 12 months.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all care pans are reviewed at least once each year.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated September 30, 2019 there were 10 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified were identified The Licensee will submit a written response to the Licensing Officer stating how the contraventions have been addressed.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
-The manager stated the fridge temperature was adjusted a few days ago. Although the fridge was measured at 4c the Licensing Officer recommends the temperature be monitored to ensure safe food storage. The manager turned the fridge temperature down during this inspection.
