Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12010 - CCALA s.7(1)(d) - A licensee must do all of the following: (d) appoint a manager for the community care facility.
Observation: It was observed that the previous manager has left as of the end of December. Licensee must appoint a new manager within a month of the previous one departing.
Corrective Action(s): Please appoint a new manager for the facility and submit paperwork for this with Licensing.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19320 - CCLR s.59(a) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation: It was observed that the repayment agreements for each child are not kept on site. Licensee noted that each family has a repayment agreement and that they are kept off site and currently working on relocating a copy of these records to be kept on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that records are kept accessible on site.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated March 5, 2019 there were 11 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Actions required by the Licensee:
Take corrective action by bringing facility into compliance
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy provided.
The following education topics were discussed:
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
· Bill 5 information
· Reportable incidents
One staff has a recently expired first aid certification but as long as another qualified staff works with this person, this still meets the required first aid of children having immediate access to a trained staff member.
