Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed the following:
-Several areas in the classroom had chipped paint, exposing gyprok
-Rear ramp has areas lifting, posing a trip hazard
Corrective Action(s): The staff explained that a work order will be put in place to have the rear ramp fixed.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing observed that fire drill record was not recorded for the month of March. The staff explained that a fire drill was conducted in March but was not recorded.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 2, 2024 there were 12 children and 3 staff present. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
