311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
Observation: 1) Gap was present between the floor to wall junction next to the upright cooler.
2) Make-shift wooden shelf was added to store food equipment off the floor. However, the wooden shelf is not made of smooth, washable, and non-absorbant materials.
3) Three tandoors were stored outside the building again. Kitchen is closed according to the Operator's son at the time and they are planning to remove them from the food premises.
Corrective Action(s): 1. Ensure there is no gap between the floor to wall junction near the upright cooler. Correct by January 17, 2020. Make sure construction material finishes used to seal the gap are smooth, easy to clean, durable, non-toxic, and impermeable to moisture.
2. Remove the wooden shelf and replace with a shelf that is made of washable, easy to clean, smooth, durable, and non-toxic materials to store the pots and pans at least 6 inches off the floor. Correct by January 17, 2020. Provide district E.H.O. of Fraser Health specification sheet for review prior to installing any new shelf.
3. Remove the tandoors from the food premises since they are not health approved and are setup in an outdoor, unsanitary area, without a handsink nearby. If you decide to re-locate a tandoor inside the food premises, submit three hardcopies of the floor plan and a specification sheet for the type of tandoor for health approval and obtain floor plan approval from Fraser Health and any other government agency with jurisdiction (e.g. City of Surrey) prior to making any changes. Correct by January 17, 2020.
