Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
· Licensing
· Physical Facility
· Staffing
· Polices & Procedures
· Care & Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR-AHRPMN have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Reviewed the intent of the DOLSOP - Screen Time includes limiting screen time to 30 minutes per day. School-age program designates Fridays as movie day and currently restricts the length to 30 mins.
Observed children within all programs participating in outdoor time.
Lunch , art activity , diapering procedure and washroom routine were observed. The facility manager while not present at arrival returned to assist the Licensing staff throughout the inspection and provided a tour.
An outside awning and gate will be added as discussed , please forward your plan when ready to commence.
Discussed use of a large space for the school-age program / gross motor which is located in close proximity to Group Child Care ( school-age ) rooms.Prior to use a floor plan is to be submitted to include this space along with confirmation that electrical outlets and room beams and exposed light fixtures have been made inaccessible to prevent possible injury.
