Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:.
During today’s inspection, there were 3 children, 1 staff, a student and the manager on site
At this inspection there were no contraventions found, and there are no further actions required by licensee or licensing.

The following was discussed:
Evacuation planning was discussed; Licensee is welcome to create an emergency plan which includes more frequent earthquake practices.
Legislation regarding the nap space requirement for children under 36 months was reviewed. Licensing advised that a nap space be available, which is free from storage of items, for children under 36 month. Manger will provide licensing with a nap plan for the outdoor nap space.
Bathroom toilet and the roof where there appeared to be some rust. Manager stated that there had been a water leak and that it has been repaired. The manager stated she would be discussing these two areas of with the licensee.
The use of space with storage and tables was discussed. Manager stated they move items to the side when not in use to create a clear walkway, it was discussed that they may want to look at the ease of movement throughout the space.
