Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection Licensing noted that one corner of the laminate on a washroom counter was missing leaving wood exposed which could not be properly cleaned and sanitized.

During inspection staff used a caulking material to cover the area to seal it.

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated May 9, 2019 there were 22 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and corrected by staff during inspection.
The following resources were provided:

- Active Supervision
- Lead in the Water
- Reportable Incident Bulletin

During inspection Licensing:

- observed children take part in a French circle time, engage in creative art activities and then engage in outdoor free play.
- observed staff interacting with children while they were engaged in activities as well as give warnings for times of transition.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
