Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: outsdide the following areas are potentially hazardous depending on the age group but all ageas share the space address the fence needs to be repairedresilient surfacing needs to be increased and the climber needs hand rails on the side and a top bar across the top of the ladder. there is an electrical cord for the sump pump that is currently hanging free, (fixed at time of inspection ) an electrician is coming to hard wire it today. the bottom of the posts in the IT program are cement they need to be covered to mitigate the risk if children fall.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the above areas are addressed repaired or removed

STAFFING: 12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills.
