Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: The fire extinguisher required to be serviced in January, 2020.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced annually.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Licensing reviewed facility records and observed that there was no fire drill records from Nov 2019 to Feb 2020. In addition, there was no record of the earthquake drill from 2019. This is considered a repeat contravention is it was identified during that last routine inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure records for fire drills and earthquake drills.

Summary of Inspection

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and Licensing provided dates for compliance. Licensing is requesting a written response by March 16, 2020 advising on compliance with coded item number 13020.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
