Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
· Licensing, Physical Facility, Staffing, Polices & Procedures, Care & Supervision, Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control, Medication, Nutrition and Food Services, Program, Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #MGIL-A3ZUCA have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

At the time of the inspection there were 8 children and 2 staff in the infant/toddler program and 4 children with 1 staff in the multi-age program. Staff to child ratio was in compliance with regulations.

Equipment provided is of a variety and age appropriate.

Discussions occurred with the Manager and/or Licensee about the following:
- outdoor play requirement (daily) and which section of the regulation to refer to for this
- monitoring the 2 pieces of wood in the pea gravel area in the backyard and ensuring they are not a tripping hazard while children are outside playing
- reminder of staff first aid certificates that are coming up for renewal
- requirements for any person transporting a child to and from school
- active play standard
- new regulation changes
- 5210

There are no contraventions from this inspection, therefore no response is required.
