Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed: Licensing; Physical Facility; Staffing; Polices & Procedures; Care & Supervision; Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control; Medication; Nutrition and Food Services; Program; Records and Reporting
As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Licensing discussed the Live 5210 resources with staff and manager, resource package was left at time of inspection.
Inspection report was reviewed with Manager before report was signed and printed.
Licensing would like to thank the staff and children of Aubrey Daycare Centre (Aubrey) for their time and assistance during today’s inspection.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

During inspection inspection Licensing noted that the following items were accessible to them: felt stories which they could use to tell their own story; natural building blocks made out of cut branches that have been sanded; Duplo; books; cars/ vehicles; dramatic play items; light table; walking on bubble wrap which was taped to the floor; a gross motor room with a vinyl block slide; music was playing throughout the inspection.

Licensing observed examples of child directed art on display throughout the facility.

During inspection Licensing observed children independently feeding themselves lunch with spoons; staff were available to assist them if needed.

During inspection Licensing observed staff at children's level engaged in their activities as well as assisting them with problem solving.
