Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All eight care categories were assessed for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan. LO discussed some strategies today with the Manager, re: supplies and storage.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that sufficient emergency supplies are available for the children.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: There were no records of fire drills for July, Aug, Sep and Oct 2022. The manager stated that fire drills were practiced with the children monthly, but not recorded for above mentioned months.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that current records are kept both monthly and yearly drills.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 31, 2023 there were 4 children and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee is required take corrective actions to bring facility into compliance and submit a written response by below date for LO's review. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. This inspection report and the risk assessment was completed off site and emailed to the Manager.
