Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12010 - CCALA s.7(1)(d) - A licensee must do all of the following: (d) appoint a manager for the community care facility.
Observation: The previous appointed manager has been away from the facility for over 30 days, a replacement has not been identified.
Corrective Action(s): Please provide a plan as to who will be identified as the appointed manager.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:

At the inspection dated February 1, 2024 there were 9 children and 3 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified.
Action required by the licensee includes, identify a manager and submit a manager amendment for by February 5, 2024.
Actions required by Licensing include reviewing the manager assessment form and making the changes to the file.


As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following discussions were had;
- Fire extinguishers are due to be serviced by Feb 16, 2024.
- Reminder of staffing orientation of all policies including evacuation drills.
- Review of facility contact information- email address and phone number.
- Reportable Incident Reporting –Duty Line 604-587-3936, and on-line reporting system.
- Two exemptions are currently in place, staffing exemption expires June 30, 2024 & 34 (2) (a) expires February 24, 2024.
- Documentation of "notification of illness or injury" in log book.


This inspection report was reviewed with the manager and a copy of both the report and Risk Assessment were provided to the facility at the time of inspection.
