Introduction

An unscheduled focused inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP) All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation: (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION) First Aid Kit had two medication tubes with DIN # on it
Corrective Action(s): Ensure no medication with DIN # is included in the first aid kit or applied on children without the parents permission.

STAFFING: 12180 - CCLR s.22(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation: Fire Extinguisher has not been serviced annually.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that system is developed to have the fire extinguisher serviced annually.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: One of six files reviewed did not list names of an emergency contact.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children's registration information is complete with all required documentation including emergency contacts

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated July 4th, 2022 there were 10 children, 2 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
