306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation:
There is a build up of mildew and algae on nozzles and other fixtures in the live seafood and shellfish tanks. This will affect the safety of the live food items.
Corrective Action(s):
Have the shellfish and seafood nozzles professionally cleaned to remove the mildew and algae. Increase the frequency which it is professionally cleaned to ensure the mildew and algae doesn't noticably accumulate.

Observation:
1) There are broken wall tiles observed in the premises. The walls are not smooth, sealed or cleanable and will attract pests and/or cause other structural damage (water damage to walls).
2) The black paneling or coving is falling off the wall and is no longer sealed to the wall. Water can get behind the paneling and cause other structural damage.
Corrective Action(s):
1) Repair or replace the broken wall tiles so the wall is smooth, sealed, durable and cleanable.
2) Reseal the black paneling/coving to the wall, so it is sealed and cleanable.

Comments

A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers below 4C; freezer below -18C; thermometer present; and temps recorded daily.
- Hand sinks stocked with liquid soap, paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- Quats sanitizer was 200ppm, and test strips present.
- Sanitation level is good. No signs of pests. Fly lights present and away from food processing areas.
- Foods stored in food grade containers; covered; labeled; date coded; foods stored in groups; and foods stored 6" off the floor on racks, platforms or shelves.
- No expired foods in use or for sale. FIFO rules being followed.
- Discussed inspection results with staff and store manager. No signature obtained due to the pandemic.
