Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the applicable Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The carpet along the metal joint in the intermediate room is fraying and is no longer secure causing a tripping hazard.
Corrective Action(s): The Licensee will need to repair or replace the carpet in this area. A written action plan is to be submitted to licensing by July 19, 2021 which may include a future date for completion. If a future date for completion is needed an interim plan must be included to mitigate the risk to persons in care.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 6, 2021 there were 3 staff and 25 children present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and any action required is included. As part of this routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic this report was reviewed with the Manager at the time of the inspection. The report was written off site (time spent: .25 hours) and a copy was sent to the Manager.
