Observation: Observed numerous flies (appears to be house flies) in the produce processing area. A sticky trap and a flies zapper trap is available and operational. The manager made a work order to address the flies issue at the time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Implement Integrated Pest Management (IPM) method. General sanitation improvement is required. Work with your pest control company to address this issue as soon as possible. Sanitize food contact surfaces in higher frequency. Remove clutters in the produce processing area to better monitor pest activities.

Observation: Observed small amount of organic matters in the produce processing area floor (e.g., a piece of pineapple, outter peels of onion, strawberry stems, etc.).
Corrective Action(s): Remove organic matters and throughly clean the produce processing area. Remove clutters in the area to find attractants (e.g., decaying organic matters in hard to reach areas). Correct this by: as soon as possible, but no later than March 29, 2021.

Comments

Routine inspection and COVID 19 inspection were conducted of the food store. BCCDC COVID 19 checklist was completed during the inspection with the store manager.

1. Temperature
Store aisle stand-up freezers, display freezers, walk-in freezers were all maintained at -18C or less
Display coolers maintained at 4C or less throughout the store
Produce walk-in cooler at 4C
Vegetable display cooler at 4C
Temperature logs generally well maintained and up-to-date

2. Hygiene and Sanitizing
Hand wash stations in food preparation areas adequately stocked with hot/cold running water, liquid soap, and single-use paper towels
QUAT sanitizer @200 ppm.
3 compartment sinks used for manual dishwashing in the produce processing area

Chemicals stored separately from all food products and food preparation areas
Organization of walk-in cooler generally satisfactory

4. Pest Management
Professional pest control company conducts routine audits
Back entranceways and receiving areas generally well maintained. No gaps underneath receiving doors noted.
Observed few non-food items stored directly on the floor in the back. Ensure all items are stored 15cm off from the floor to better monitor for pests and to facilitate cleaning process.

All shopping carts and shopping baskets are sanitized before available for customers

Plexiglasses are installed where applicable
Maximum occupancy is posted. Number of customers in the store is tracked by a security personnel.
A staff at the entrance monitors incoming customers for mask usage and offers hand sanitizer.
High touch surfaces are routinely cleaned, sanitized, and logged.
Bulk stations are closed for COVID 19.
Hand sanitizer is available at the bulk water dispenser.
