Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation: The diaper change mat in the infant room is showing signs of wear and cannot be sanitized properly. The Manager stated they would get a new one.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure furniture is in good repair and can be sanitized effectively.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 18, 2022 there were 15 children and 7 staff present throughout the entire facility. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the Manager and written off site. A copy of the report will be emailed to the Manager.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

-Covid-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed.
- When reporting a reportable incident, please ensure you directly notify a Licensing Officer within 24 hours. If you cannot reach your LO please contact the duty line @ 604 587 3936.
