Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19052 - CCLR s.56.1(2)(b) - A Licensee must keep (b) a current record of each person to whom the written agreement is delivered in accordance with that section [CCALA s.19]
Observation: Files for six children were reviewed. Evidence of parents being provided a parent contract was not available.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a system is in place to show parents have been provided a copy of the parent contract.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated May 5, 2023 there were four children and two staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager.
The following were discussed:
Minor log book - ensuring all unusual occurrences are recorded (eg parent telling staff a child did not sleep well the previous night).
Medical conditions - ensuring staff know what actions may need to be taken if a child has a medical condition.
