Observation: - Mouse droppings noted in the following areas of the floor:
- under shelving in room where mop sink is located
- in corner near back door and under adjacent shelving
- under shelving in storage area adjacent to sink (staff lunch area)
- Hole noted in wall near floor in room where mop sink is located
- Chewed cardboard noted under shelving in storage area
Corrective Action(s): - Clean up all droppings and disinfect areas with a bleach solution.
- Clear all items from the floor to facilitate cleaning and monitoring for pest activity
- Seal/fill hole noted in wall along with any additional holes noted.
- Continue to monitor for any further activity and clean up any droppings immediately if noted.
- Retain the services of a Pest Control Technician to provide service for rodents. [Correction date: 31-May-2019]

Observation: - Walk-in freezer not operational and not turned on or in use. 2 additional freezers have been added to the storage area as an interim measure.
Corrective Action(s): - Repair walk-freezer so that it is in good working order. [Correction date: 15-June-2019]

Comments

- Operator has provided an updated layout plan with additional freezers shown on plan.
Note: the 2 additional freezers present at the time of this inspection are only for the interim until the walk-in freezer is repaired. These are not shown on the layout plan.
- Operator has reported that rather than subleasing the space to the Good Stuff, he will be co-packing their product. Draft co-packing agreement submitted. Operator to submit signed finalized version via email. Food safety procedures have been submitted.
- Additional shelving has been provided in walk-in cooler.
- Operator has approval to prepare the existing 4 Nomad Nutrition products (Indian Red Lentil Stew, Hungarian Goulash, Kathmandu Curry, Irish Shepherd's Pie) and provide co-packing services for the Good Stuff. No additional products or changes to operation without prior review and written approval by Fraser Health.
- Bay doors were closed at the time of the inspection.
- Warehouse area has been re-organized and all food items are now stored off of the floor. Additional organization is needed (see code 304) to ensure the floor is kept clear to facilitate cleaning and monitoring for pest activity.
