211 - Semi critical items not adequately cleaned and disinfected Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Callus removers disinfected with an intermediate-level disinfectant (1000 ppm chlorine). Drill bits disinfected with an intermediate-level disinfectant (70% isopropyl alcohol). Corrective Action(s): Callus removers and drill bits are semi-critical items requiring high-level disinfection. Use CS20 to disinfect callus removers and drill bits. Ensure product is fully submersed in the disinfectant for at least 20 minutes. Goggles lined with cotton pads. Corrective Action(s): Use a high-level disinfectant (CS20) to disinfectant eye goggles after each use. Use goggles as per manufacturer's recommendation (ex. do not line them with cotton pads). Note: Goggles designated for single staff use do not require high level disinfection. Routine inspection: Manicure/pedicure: Hand sink in service area provided with hot/cold running water, liquid soap, and paper towels. Pedicure tubs lined with disposable liners. Liners disposed after each use and tub is disinfected with Clorox bleach. All files, buffers, and sanding blocks single use. All clippers, nippers, cuticle pushers disinfected in PREempt CS20 solution (expiry of August 2022). Soaking trays available for use. *See above for callus removers. *Label CS20 with date to ensure it is not used past the 14 day re-use period. Recommend using a timer to keep track of 20 minute disinfection time. Equipment cleaning sink available for use in back area. The following esthetic services are provided in one treatment room equipped with a hand sink with hot/cold running water, liquid soap, and paper towels: Threading: All threads single use. Waxing: All wax applicators - sticks and strips single use. Treatment bed lined with plastic cover that is easily wipeable. 70% isopropyl alcohol spray used for disinfecting bed cover. Single use paper also available for lining treatment bed. Facials: Comedone extractor disinfected in PREempt CS20 solution. No needles used. Gauze, sponges, and cotton single use. Note: hydra facials machine not in use. Eyelash and eyebrow tinting: Tinting product (RefectoCil) provided with warning label in English and French. Microdermabrasion: Microdermbrasion wand tips disinfected in PREempt CS20 solution. *Store clean vs dirty implements separately in labelled containers. This will ensure all tips are cleaned and disinfected after each use. Laser hair removal: IPL machine equipped with an emergency on/off button and is key operated. Warning sign posted on door. Curtain is pulled around treatment bed during laser services to prevent exposure to the large mirror in the room. Same treatment room as other aesthetic services, hand sink is provided with liquid soap and paper towels. Laser hand pieces disinfected with 70% ispropyl alcohol. Ear piercing: Ear piercing services temporarily not being provided. Discussed disinfection producers for when services resume - piercing gun wiped down with 70% isopropyl alcohol after use. General: Laundry services done on-site. Washroom hand sink provided with hot/cold running water, liquid soap, and paper towels.
