Introduction

Routine Inspection Report

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (C.C.A.L.A.), the Residential Care Regulation (R.C.R.), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (D.L.S.P.). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

- Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
- Medication
- Nutrition and Food Services
- Program
- Records and Reporting

As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes contraventions identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year historical review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 30160 - RCR s.11(1)(b) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a type of care described as Child and Youth Residential or Community Living, must display in a prominent place in the community care facility (b) the most recent routine inspection record made under section 9 (1)(d) of the Act.
Observation: During inspection of the physical facility, it was confirmed that the previous routine inspection report was not posted.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the most recent routine inspection is posted for person in care awareness.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 33030 - RCR s.48(1)(c)(i) - Before admitting a person to a community care facility, a licensee must advise the person, or the person's parent or representative, of (c) how the person, or the person's parent or representative, may express concerns or make complaints to (i) a medical health officer.
Observation: In review of admission information (welcome/informational package), it was confirmed that persons in care are not provided with information regarding how to express a concern or make a complaint to the Medical Health Officer (Community Care Facilities Licensing).
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all new admissions are provided with information regarding how to express a concern or make a complaint to Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL).
