Introduction

An unannounced follow up inspection to assess contraventions noted on Routine Inspection #WBET-BDWQEX dated July 9, 2019.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: One person who is ordinarily present at the facility does not have a criminal record check. An application to the CRC sharing program was submitted on July 19, 2019. This person will not be part of staff:child ratio and will not be left alone with the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all persons ordinarily present have a valid CRC.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19230 - CCLR s.58(1)(c)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (i) any adaptation of the community care facility necessary to ensure the child's safety or comfort.
Observation: A care plan states medication is required for a child with a care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please make sure all medications required in a care plan are available at all times the child is in care.

Comments

During this inspection ten children and two staff were present.
During this inspection the licensing officer discussed the Licensee Contacts plan submitted on July 19, 2019 to come into compliance with hiring a manager. The plan is accepted and any changes must be approved by licensing before the are implemented.
Licensing reminded the Licensee Contact that a valid criminal record check must be at the facility before a staff person starts to work with the children.
A transportation plan for drop off/pick up of kindergarten children was submitted to licensing on July 18, 2019. Additional information is required in the plan. The Licensee stated this would be submitted no later than 4pm on July 29, 2019.
