Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19130 - CCLR s.57(2)(g) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (g) any notification of a parent, emergency contact or medical health officer made under section 55 [notification of illness or injury].
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Staff have been notifying parents of any minor injuries or illnessess involving their children while in care. However, records of the notifications have not been maintained.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure record of notifications.

Comments

Present at the facility were three staff, twelve children and both Directors.

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. During the inspection, the Director updated the facilities policy to address the contravention.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool and a COVID- 19 Infection Control Assessment was completed and copies were provided.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Directors and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
