Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: Manager preparing lunch for children in a Galley Style Kitchen, Licensing observed a pot on the front burner of the stove with boiling water ( cooking noodles) Children observed independently passing by this area to access the washroom.Discussed this practice with the manager who was actively supervising however at times stepped away from the stove to assist children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do have access to any substance which may be harmful to their health or safety. Some solutions discussed with the facility manager such as discontinuing cooking items that require boiled water , cooking in advance of children's arrival and warming, installation of a stove guard. Please forward your plan

At the inspection dated July 20, 2021 there were 8 children in the crae of the facility manager At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. or no contraventions were identified. Please respond with your plan to address this contrevention, Licenisng to acknowledge receipt and request any addtional information if determined necessary. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. Report completed off site and provided by email therefore signatures were not obtained.
