Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DOLSOP). All areas were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: The manager said they completed the annual emergency evacuation drill, however they had not documented it. Licensing observed a "lock down" drill had been documented in the fire drill log book, in addition to fire drills which had been logged monthly. Licensing shared information and resources around evacuation drills.
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will consider a plan to ensure the annual evacuation plan is documented.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection the manager and 9 children were present.
At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contravention. Licensing will review the written response.
As part of the routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool was completed, and a copy was provided to the facility along with the report. Copies of the inspection report and the Facility Risk Assessment Tool were reviewed, discussed, and provided to the Licensee/Manager.
