Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A shelf on wheels that can be easily moved was stationed in the middle of one of the 30 months to school age programs. The concern is that the shelf can be accidentally pushed into a child. The shelf was moved against a wall.
This is a repeat contravention as a concern around this nature was identified on the last routine inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times while children are in care.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the manager and the report and risk assessment were written off-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
