Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: Hot water temperature in washroom measured 52.5 degree Celsius.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that heated water accessible to children is no more than 49 degree Celsius.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: LO discussed re: diapering practice with the Licensee and to relocate diaper changing area to the washroom.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that diaper changing is done outside of the food preparation area, next to a sink and covered garbage can, i.e. washroom.

Comments

At this inspection dated February 29, 2024 there were 6 children and the Licensee present. A walk-through of the home was completed today.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring facility into compliance and provide a written response by below date. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the Licensee during today's inspection.
This inspection report was completed off site and emailed along with the Risk Assessment to the facility.

LO discussed and shared the following resources with the Manager onsite:
- Napping equipment, i.e. playpen use
- Nap time supervision
- Emergency supplies; replenish and build a kit with sufficient supplies ( see link below)
- Washroom storage/cabinet; any personal items to be inaccessible and out of children's reach
- Records for child; sec. 57 (2)
