A routine inspection was conducted, the following observations were made:
- Coolers 4C or colder; freezers -21C or colder; and thermometers present.
- Hand sinks stocked with liquid soap paper towels, and running hot and cold water.
- 3-compartment sink used to manually wash cookware. Bleach present.
- Bleach sanitizer in spray bottles had [Cl2] of 200ppm (for dishware) and [Cl2] greater than 200ppm (for surfaces) as per COVID-19 guidelines. Owner explained that the surface bleach strength was 1000ppm.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; labeled; dated; coded; foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves or platforms; and foods stored in groups.
- No expired foods for use.
- Owner has changed the menu, they only offer drinks (bubble tea and coffee) in single-use cups. They no longer make or offer rice balls. Any food items found on-site are for staff consumption.
- Domestic stove and exhaust hood used to only boil the pearls for the bubble tea, and/or to reheat staff meals. No cooking of meals/foods being done.
- General sanitation level is good. No signs of pests.
- Work on de-cluttering the premises and removing excess items (containers, newspapers, boxes); items that are not related to the operation of the premises; and items that are used on a monthly basis. This will make cleaning of the premises easier and prevent the harboring of pests.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- COVIE-19 measures in place, such as: masks worn by staff and customers; hand sanitizer available to staff and customers; distance markers found on floor; signs posted on door of max capacity, mask requirement, and to physically distance.
- Discussed inspection results with the owner. No signature obtained due to the pandemic.
