Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted on January 23, 2023 to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was a coffee pot with coffee inside that was accessible to the children.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon review of the attendance records, 1 arrival and 1 departure time had not been recorded.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 23, 2023 there were 13 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will provide a written response to Licensing.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment was completed and a copy was provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

The following discussions were had with the Staff:

· Emergency exit
· Registrations and Fire drill records
· Heavy toy storage
· Care plans
· Outdoor play space


Staff shared that no resources are required at this time.

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Staff and the report was written on site.
