Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: The fire extinguishers in the program have expired tags affixed to them. LO reviewed this item with the manager and staff during the inspection.
This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure equipment used to respond and recover from an emergency is serviced and maintained yearly.

Comments

On the inspection date of March 1, 2021 there were 21 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee include a corrective action plan required to be submitted and actions required the LO include to review and monitor corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This inspection report and risk assessment was completed off site and emailed to the facility the same day.
