Introduction

A routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP)
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance:
COVID-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: The facility licence was posted but the name of the facility manager was not observed posted
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the facility manager's name is posted in the facility

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES: 17010 - CCLR s.48(1)(a) - A licensee must (a) ensure that each child has healthy food and drink according to the Canada's Food Guide.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection of the fridge, it was found that the fridge temperature measured at 8 degrees Celsius
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the fridge temperature is kept between 0-4 degrees Celsius

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: A review of 2 children's files found that one file was missing a medical insurance plan number
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete
Date to be Corrected: November 26, 2020

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: During a review of daily attendance records it was found that on 1 day the sign out times were missing for 2 children
Corrective Action(s): Ensure daily attendance records are complete

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: A review of 2 files found that one file was missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children's files are complete

Comments

During this inspection, there were 3 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee ncluded here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The Licensing Officer met with the manager and discussed the following:
· Increased sanitization procedures
· Facility supplies of cleaning products and paper products
· Facility sickness policy
· WorkSafe BC Child Care Protocols for Returning to Operation

The following resources were provided:
· Corona Covid-19 BCCDC
· HealthLink BC Hand Washing
· Dishwashing 3 Sink Method
· Cleaning and Sanitizing Schedule
· Safe and Healthy Diapering
· Universal Precautions
· How to Wash your Hands Like Mom is Watching

A discussion was had in regards to emergency supplies.
