Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #WBET-AXNN4N have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11160 - CCLR s.16(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.
Observation: During inspection of the outdoor play area it was found that 5 wooden fence panels have several slats that are rotting and starting to fall apart. Some of the identified slates are so rotten that a person could push the slat and cause it to crumble.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the entire outdoor play is enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of the children and is free from harm.
Date to be Corrected: A plan for repair or replacement must be submitted by May 10, 2019

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During review of 3 files it was found that 1 file was missing the name of medical practitioner and an emergency contact
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete
Date to be Corrected: April 18, 2019

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19350 - CCLR s.60(1) - Subject to subsections (2) to (5), a licensee must keep all records referred to in this Division for at least one year.
Observation: The licensee described a monthly routine of fire drills and emergency drill practice but only had on hand 1 month to review during inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all records are kept for a least one year

Comments

At the inspection dated April 11, 2019 there were 7 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee included here. As part of this routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Guidance in the Selection of Cleaners, Sanitization or Disinfectants
· Information on Emergency Cards was provided
· Recommendations on developing a transportation policy
· Lead in the Water
