Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: During the inspection the following was observed inside the facility:
-various essential oils were in a cupboard. The cupboard was unlocked. This was corrected during the inspection.

During the inspection the following was observed in the outdoor play area:
-a propane tank and a pressure washer. In discussion with the Licensee she stated she is currently in the process of organizing the outdoor space and this is not in use.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be hazardous to their health and safety.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 25, 2023 there were 6 children, 1 staff, and the Licensee was present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Please correct the above noted contravention by April 26, 2023. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was sent to the Licensee.

The following was discussed:
-The reportable incident reporting procedure. Forms and the bulletin were given
-The current cleaning protocols that are in place
-Preventing lead in the water
-Adding more food to the emergency supplies. The Licensee stated more food has been ordered
-Keeping the licensed outdoor play area clean and uncluttered

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Licensee at the inspection. A copy of these documents were sent to the Licensee. If you have any questions regarding this report please contact me.
