Introduction

Routine Inspection Report

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (C.C.A.L.A.), the Residential Care Regulation (R.C.R.), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (D.L.S.P.). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

- Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
- Medication
- Nutrition and Food Services
- Program
- Records and Reporting

As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes contraventions identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year historical review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31290 - RCR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all rooms and common areas are (b) maintained in a good state of repair.
Observation: During inspection of the physical facility, the following was noted:
- In the bathroom facility on the 2nd floor, caulking was missing around sinks and toilets,
- A bedroom adjacent to the dining area, a privacy curtain was no longer securely attached to the ceiling fixture
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all rooms and common areas are maintained in a good state of repair.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31560 - RCR s.29(1)(b) - A licensee must provide, at no cost to the person in care, each person in care with bedroom furnishings, including (b) a closet or wardrobe cabinet measuring at least 0.50 sq m.
Observation: During inspection of the 3rd floor, it was noted in each suite that only 1 closet is available for the 2 occupants of the room.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that each person in care is provided with a closet or wardrobe cabinet measuring at least .50 sq m.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31780 - RCR s.35(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that laundry facilities (a) if used by persons in care, have a slip resistant floor surface.
Observation: Inspection of the laundry rooms noted an absence of any non slip floor surfacing. As mentioned to the manager, non slip mats would suffice if located in front of the laundry machines.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that laundry facilities have a slip resistant floor surface.
