Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection to the Routine Inspection # JMIA-AYKPEQ dated May 8, 2018 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the recent Routine Inspection were reviewed for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Attendance records are incomplete;
- Today there were only 3 children signed in, there were 12 children in care
- on May 18, 2018 10 children were not signed out
-Absents are not clearly documented

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that attendance records are a clear document of who is in care. Arrival, Departures and Absents must be documented.

Comments

During today’s inspection the manager, 1 staff and 12 children were on site.

Licensing notes that it appears that the previously identified contraventions have been appropriately addressed as follows:
- Staff certificates have been validated
- Manager’s name has been posted
- Staffing Plan has been approved- Exemption continues until June 30, 2018
- As the current play area is under renovations, Licensing has approved the current play space away until June 30, 2018.
- Fire Drills have been documented and will be practiced monthly
- Emergency supplies are now available on site, and a complete practice of the emergency drill was conducted and documented) on May 15, 2018
- Active play and Screen Use Policies have been created, implemented and provided to families (this policy will be amended before September 2018 , to include the main play area away)
Other information:
- Policies have been updated to include no public washrooms
- Attendance records - Licensing to email a sample to help have a clearer picture of who is in care.
- System in place to ensure hazardous items are out of reach of children in care
- Sharing of space with Bowling Club was discussed, systems are in place to guide staff during these times.
