Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection hot water temperature reached 54C at the sink accessible to children.

During inspection Licensee turned off the hot water to this sink to mitigate the risk of the water exceeding 49C.

Comments

At the inspection dated June 14, 2019 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and corrected by the Licensee during inspection.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided
The following resources have previously been provided to the Licensee:

 Lead in the Water
 Reportable Incident Bulletin

During inspection Licensing observed children engaged in free play; having snack; engaged in a circle time and then engaged in outdoor free play. Licensing observed the Licensee interacting with children while they were engaged in activities as well as giving warnings before times of transition.
