Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: the large carpet the corner edge is in poor repair
Corrective Action(s): please enure the carpet is repaired or replaced

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: the facility is using face cloths to dry hands but not on a single use basis
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the children only use a single cloth system , paper towels / or cotton cloths

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: name of Dr or care clinic not available for all children
Corrective Action(s): please ensure records are complete for dr's name plus phone number and or care clinic that is used

Comments

At the inspection dated march 11-24 there were 7 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager
The following were discussed:
possible requirement for staff exemption if new CEC certificate is not received in time
