Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess the following areas for compliance:
-Physical facility.
-Equipment and fixtures.
-Health and hygiene practices.
-Sanitization practices.
-Emergency response preparedness.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
-Reusable cloth hand towels were being used as part of children's hand washing routine. Upon further discussion, the Licensee indicated that the hand towels were not single use and were not sanitized in between uses, as is practice for outbreak prevention.
-Bi fold closet door in one of the play rooms was not secured creating a pinching hazard.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Date to be Corrected: June-25-20 : Hand Towels.
July-2-20: Closet door.


Comments

Summary of inspection:
At the inspection dated June-24-20 there was one child present with the Licensee.
A COVID-19 Risk Screening was conducted prior to inspection.
At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response,by the date stated below, indicating how the above noted contraventions will be addressed.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
This report was written off site due to health and safety practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. A copy of the report and corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Licensee.

The following items were discussed:
-Planned emergency response during COVID-19.
-Communicable disease prevention practices.
-Health/hygiene/sanitizing practices during COVID-19.
-Current standards of documenting children's attendance.
-COVID-19 health and safety plans children and staff.

The following resources were provided:
-Reportable Incident Forms
-Resource Package for Childcare Facilities: COVID-19 Prevention.
