Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Facility has been recently painted , observed however soil build up on lower level of walls particularly near garbage cans. Drywall chipped / wall damaged due to staking of chairs.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure facility remains in good repair , overall a good level of cleanliness is observed.

Comments

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Discussed system for storing food items in order to ensure they are fresh when served.
Many good systems in place - checklist in use attached to each staff file.
Children's records well organized and of those audited found to be complete.
Observed children waking from nap and transitioning to the outdoors for play.
Active Play and Screen Time Policies in place and also observed to be posted.
