Introduction

Follow-up to Routine Inspection #LBUL-CD2UZP



An unscheduled follow-up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (C.C.A.L.A.), the Residential Care Regulation (R.C.R.), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (D.L.S.P.). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The purpose of this inspection is to determine whether the Licensee has taken corrective actions to address the contraventions identified in Routine Inspection #LBUL-CD2UZP.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31860 - RCR s.69(3)(a) - A licensee must ensure that (a) all medications in the community care facility are safely and securely stored.
Observation: One labelled medicated cream was stored in a bathroom cabinet.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that medications are securely stored.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 35020 - RCR s.49(1) - A licensee must require all persons admitted to a community care facility to comply with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Review of six PICs files and one PICs file contatined no evidence of compliance with the TB control program.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that PICs file includes compliance with the TB control program. This evidence must be obtained prior or on admission.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 39320 - RCR s.83(4)(a) - Subject to subsection 83(5), a licensee, other than a licensee who provides a type of care described as Hospice, must (a) ensure that each person in care is weighed at least once each month.
Observation: Review of six PICs files for a one year period. Weights were not recorded for at least one month for five PICs. One PICs file did not have a record for 3 months and one PICs file did not have record for 6 months.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that PICs are weighed at least once per month.

This Licensing Officer would like to thank the Manager and staff for their assistance in completing this follow-up inspection.

Discussion with management confirms the team is working on a plan for future tub replacement.

This report was written off-site and forwarded to Facility management.
