Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practise (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: The following was observed:
-cable outlet front plate is missing in a room upstairs in the School Age program
-blind cord accessible in a room upstairs in the School Age program
-rusty nail heads exposed on one panel of the fence in the backyard
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the above is addressed to prevent injury to children

Comments

At the inspection dated May 10, 2019, there were 23 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
Redistribute wood chips in backyard to ensure even coverage
Updating photos of children to ensure they are current
