Observation: Bags of onion, tomato boxes, produce boxes were kept on the floor.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that food products are stored at least 6" off the floor to prevent the risk of contamination.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: 1) Flies were observed in the back area.
2) Moderate amount of mouse droppings were found on the floor near "Dry Fruits" corner.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that facility is kept free of pest and in sanitary condition. Remove the mouse droppings and disinfect the area with 1 part bleach to 9 part water solution. Wear proper PPE and gloves when handling mouse droppings. Contact your pest control company to ensure adequate measures are put in place for pest management.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted at the food store and the following observations were made:

Temperature:
- Walk-in cooler at 3C.
- Walk-in freezer at -19C.
- Stand-up cooler at -2C.
- Stand-up freezer at -15C.
- Ice cream freezer at -17C.
- Stand-up pop cooler at 6C.

Hygiene and Sanitizing:
- 2 compartment sink available in the back and used for washing produce.
Ensure that the sink is cleaned and maintained in sanitary condition at all times.
- Staff washroom maintained in sanitary condition.

Storage:
- All food items were stored at least 6" off the floor.
- All products were found either in original packaging or covered inside coolers.
- Storage area was well-organized.
- Chemicals and cleaners were stored separate from food preparation areas.
- "Nupak Roman Beans" cans had best before date of Jan 2021.
Follow "First In, First Out" rule and conduct regular checks to monitor expiry date and best before date.

Pest Management:
- Professional pest control company conducts routine checks.
- General sanitation of the facility was satisfactory.

Note: Sugarcane juice machine was found in the back area. Please be advised that you require an approval from Fraser Health in order to conduct food processing on site. As per the Operator, it is not being used. In that case, have it removed from the site immediately.
